Since our calculation is predicated on the emissions in the omitted manufacturing and distribution process, actual reductions in environmental impact may differ from our projected estimate.

Our company does not check and verify the actual numerical value of each item's environmental impact (CO2 emission and water consumption) for our Resale Impact. Instead, we base our calculations on data from the LCA database "Gabi*" and estimate the total environmental impact of an item's entire life cycle, from the procurement of its materials to its disposal and/or recycling. Our calculations were overseen by a third-party consulting firm. -

Which gemstones sell at the highest prices?

What colour gold is the most valuable? How does platinum compare to gold?
When it comes to buying jewellery, you’ll see in retail prices that there is often a difference when it comes to the colour of your gold product even at the same karat. For example, a 9k white gold ring will usually be more expensive than a 9k yellow gold or 9k rose gold equivalent of the same style and weight. This is largely due to the fact that to get the right finish, white gold has traditionally had either a rhodium plated finish, or uses a high quality palladium alloy. There are also fashion trends at play here – white gold’s popularity increased in the 1980s and 1990s compared to yellow gold and many retailers charge more as a result of this demand. These market conditions in the jewellery retail sector also mean that when selling a branded piece of jewellery to someone like ALLU, the price you get will also depend on supply & demand in the market. The demand for white gold jewellery is generally slightly higher, but then supply also comes into play – you might have a rarer piece that our customers are willing to pay more for, and we’ll make you an increased offer as a result.
As for platinum, this is almost a complicated story. The price of pure platinum against pure gold has changed a lot over time, with platinum actually being more valuable than gold for a lot of the years 2000 to 2010, but as of 2024, the price of pure gold is approximately 2x that of pure platinum. Therefore, you’d assume that a typical gold ring would be more valuable than an equivalent platinum ring right? Actually, this is not quite the case. The purity of platinum used in jewellery is generally much higher than in gold jewellery. For example in a 9k gold ring, there is only 37.5% pure gold, whereas a platinum ring would generally have at least 85% purity and even 95% in many cases. This can turn the tables and make a platinum ring much more valuable than a gold ring of the same style and weight.
